Chapter Reviews
Here are the reviews from class. I am posting these because we have had so many absences. If you have missed class or missed the review, use these before you take the test. The rectangles (blue/yellow) are what originally covered the answers, I just moved them so you can see the answers. Please come see me if you need/want help working ANY of these problems out.

1/28 Assignments
Course 2: Lesson 3B: Area and Perimeter of Similar Figures
Below you will find a copy of today's notes from class. We worked many problems together. Each student had 2-3 problems to work on their own. Homework: Pg 301 #1-10 all
Pre-Algebra: 6-8 Dilations
This is a fun, geometric lesson! We used graph paper to draw figures and their image based on a given scale factor. Below you will find the copy of the notes taken n class. Homework: Pg 314 #5-14 all
There have been many, many students out with illness these past couple weeks. Please let me know if you have missed a lesson and need help with anything! I have copies of many notes from the last week; I am happy to share them.
Tomorrow, we are working on reviewing the entire chapter to prepare for our test on Thursday. I am going to try to figure out a way to post the chapter reviews tomorrow. Stay tuned!
As always, if you have questions, comments, or concerns just contact me!

Extra Credit Problem!
I am going to start randomly posting extra credit problems! If you solve one, just email or Facebook message me your answer.
Course 2: Explain (in sentences) what makes two quantities proportional and give a real world example.
Pre-Algebra: A 96-ounce container of orange juice costs $4.80. At what price should a 128-ounce container be sold in order for the unit rate for both containers to be the same? Explain your reasoning.
Good luck! If you have questions about this process, just ask! Remember, my email address is sdees@usd250.org.

Gingerbread House
The last week of the semester we will be doing a project that involves building a gingerbread house. We will spend one day building and then at least one day doing math with it. We will find perimeter, area, surface area, volume, and more.
I am very excited about this project. I know it will be fun for the students and a great way to review important math concepts.
I need your help to make this project possible. We need graham crackers, icing, and candy. If possible, I would appreciate if these items can be donated.
Please let me know if you are able to send a box of graham crackers or a container of icing to school with your student by the end of the week. I want to make sure we have enough supplies.
Thank you for all of your help and support.
Miss Dees

All This Talk of Powerball...
I've heard a lot about people winning millions at Powerball this week...SO I devided to have a few contests in the classroom!
Remember, AR goals include 100% points, 85 percent correct, 2 Vocab tests, 2 Non-Fiction tests, and 1 Literacy Skills test. AR goals are due on Dec 18th.
Yes, if every class ends up with zero missing assignments, I'll be okay having 4 parties!

Grading, Grading, Grading!
It is exactly 10:17 as I start this post. I have been grading I left school, with the exception of dinner and a quick trip to the grocery store. Why so much grading, you ask? Check out how many papers were turned in today!
Yep, that's a TON of corrections and missing work. I'm very glad so many were hard workers over your weekend! I have graded about 75% of these papers, and they are posted on Power School. I will finish them up tomorrow and hope to get everyone new missing assignment print outs by Wednesday.
On a different note, all quizzes have been graded as well. Check Power School for your grade. I will be giving these back tomorrow along with a slip telling you how to correct them. I still have about 10 of you who need to complete your quiz! Come see me in Homeroom!!
Now that it's 10:21, it's time for this teacher to hit the hay; she has quite a few 7th graders who will be awaiting her bright and early! :)

Today's Lessons
Pre-Algebra: 4-4 Solve One-Step Multiplication and Division Equations
Division Property of Equality - When you divide each side of an equation by the same number, the two sides remain equal.
Multiplication Property of Equality - When you multiply each side of an equation by the same number, the two sides remain equal.
Remember, always use the inverse operation to solve an equation. The inverse operations undo each other (multiplication/division).

Solving Addition and Subtractiong One-Step Equations
Review of Pre-Algebra Lesson 4-3
equation - a math sentence that contains an equals sign (=), showing that two expressions are equal.
solution - the value of the variable that makes an equation true
inverse operations - operations that "undo" each other --addition/subtraction and multiplication/division
equivalent equations - equations that have the same solution
Remember to always use the inverse operation to solve!!
Always do the same to both sides!!

Pre-Algebra Lesson 10/31
Today we talked about the Distributive Property. Do you need a little more explanation?
Well, Here's a quick review!
The Distributive Property is a property of numbers that ties the operation of addition (or subtraction) and multiplication together.
It says that for ANY numbers a, b and c,
. For those used to multiplications without the multiplication sign,
.
The same property applies when there is subtraction instead of addition: a*(b-c) = a*b - a*c.
How it is used: The distributive property is used when something in parentheses ( ) is multiplied by something, or, in reverse, when you need to take some common multiplier OUT of the parentheses.
Example:
Taking x INTO parentheses:
Taking a OUT of parentheses:
.
You've read it, now how about some Khan Academy help!?!
